There are an infinite amount of colors, so what one do you choose for your Northern exposed dining room wall? Worry not! There are so many different ways, things and people that can help you through it! Below we have put together some ideas to help you if you feel overwhelmed or just don’t know where to start.
1. Go by your gut!...You know that color you’ve been dying to try, that one you keep saving to your Pinterest board? Well give it a go! I mean the worst that could happen is that you have to repaint your whole wall… But really though, paint a sample area on the intended wall and see what you think. (Pro Tip: When applying color samples to any wall be sure to feather out the edges and try not to leave any thick hard edges, like a square, that you might be able to see even after painting the whole wall)
2. Cream or light shades. Honestly nothing is wrong with a light clean color. Especially here in the PNW where we see more clouds than sun it’s nice to have that bright space to help cheer up your day!
3. Google, Pinterest and all those handy internet search engines that can ask millions of people what best goes with your grandmothers tablerunner. This is where I get lost in the internet rabbit-hole and will end up on funny goat videos, but if you stay focused and know your way around Martha Stewarts blog then you might be in luck!
4. Download one of those handy 3D room apps that lets you see different colors immediately on your phone. Keep in mind that these colors may vary slightly on screen when compared to on your wall. These can be fun to play around with but when you’re seriously considering getting elbow deep in eggshell paint, then getting some IRL paint color samples is your best bet!
5. Go to the professionals. We highly suggest going or calling your local paint store (and no, we don’t mean Lowes & Home Depot) and asking if they offer a Paint Rep. A Paint Rep is someone that has a great knowledge of the different products and best colors for your project. They sometimes will even come out to your home (sometimes even FREE of charge) and help you pick out the best color for room or even your whole home!
We hope these tips help!
